Being a parent to a special needs child can be exhausting, stressful and lonely work so it's no surprise that many also suffer from depression as a result. The blog authors of Mental Magnolia had found very little perspectives from parents with special needs children and who also struggled with depression - only statistics on studies done.
This blog was created so that parents of special needs children might take comfort in knowing that they are not alone, and have a venue where they can share and relate with those who are dealing with the same circumstances.

As Told by Chloe
From the blog author, "As told by Chloe is not for the faint of heart. Chloe doesn't write for sympathy. She writes for empathy, understanding and growth. All stories written by Chloe are her flashbacks from the trauma she has endured. These stories haunt Chloe as an adult. All names have been changed, even Chloes', to provide some level of anonymity and for her own safety. Even some of the people closest to Chloe have no knowledge of these instances. Because she doesn't want to hurt them with hearing the gory details of what she has been through... Chloe is a survivor, these are her stories."

From the blog author: "I write mostly about mental illness, both in general and how it affects my life. Fighting against the stigma of mental illness is important to me, and I try to provide accurate information. I am not a professional, nor am I offering advice. I do, however, hope I can offer encouragement and hope, and a glimpse at what it's like to live with a mental illness. Although my life in general is very good, my brain often gets in the way. Keep in mind I'm very open and honest, and from time to time I may post something disturbing or triggering. I do not post warnings on every post."
