Join us all month long for events that help bring mental health awareness top of mind.
Millions of Americans live with a mental health condition. Mental health affects everyone from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, gender, sexuality, or economic status.
Though mental health issues are widely known, stigma and misunderstanding still exist.
For this reason, the month of May is dedicated to raising awareness about mental health. This month, Psych Central continues our fight against stigma surrounding mental health by providing education and support to individuals with mental health conditions and their families.
We have a number of events this month focused on helping to spread the word about mental health. Consider joining us as we seek to stamp out stigma, promote healing, and help build resilience.
Here’s what’s happening at Psych Central:
Hosted by DRK Beauty Founder Wilma Mae Basta, this Clubhouse Session will be like a fireside chat. At a high level, the first 60 minutes of the session will be an open dialogue facilitated by Wilma. Once she leaves, the last 30 to 60 minutes will be a fireside chat facilitated by Shara.
Guests for this chat include Psych Central’s Editor-in-Chief Faye McCray, along with Maisha Johnson, Editor II, and Chante Owens, Senior Marketing Manager.
Another Clubhouse Session hosted by DRK Beauty Founder Wilma Mae Basta. This 1.5–2 hour session will be slightly different and include more people from both clinical and nonclinical-focused practices.
Healthline will be hosting a Live Town Hall at 2:00 p.m. ET; 11:00 a.m. PT.
The Town Hall will feature artists and entertainers such as Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Taraji P. Henson, Grammy Award-winning recording artist and actress Michelle Williams, and many more.
Other guests include journalists and advocates, each of whom will tell a personal story about their mental health journey via books, broadcasts, or foundations that advance the public conversation.
Our virtual Town Hall will be hosted by Steve Swasey, Healthline Media Vice President of Communications, and moderated by Healthline.com Editor-in-Chief Erin Peterson-Edge and PsychCentral.com Editor-in-Chief Faye McCray.
This month, we’re partnering with DRK Beauty on two Instagram campaigns.
The #HealingSquadChallenge: Live on Instagram now, using the hashtags #HealingIsMyBirthright and #HealingSquadChallenge, list 5 members of your “healing squad” (e.g. friend, therapist, God, family member, spiritual advisor, etc.), and then tag 3–5 people to challenge them to do the same.
Healing Hamper Giveaway: Going live on May 11th, this event will run through the end of the month. 5 winners will be chosen and notified to receive a Healing Hamper on June 1st. To be entered into the draw, follow these steps:
