Global Aphasia

Combined motor and sensory aphasia (i.e., the symptomology of both Broca’s aphasia and Wernicke’s aphasia). Language expression and comprehension are severely affected; patients are generally mute or make limited, repetitive vocalizations.

Example: Although alert and socially responsive, the patient can neither initiate speech nor follow verbal commands.
