Coma

Complete unconsciousness and total unresponsiveness to stimuli; even severe pain is ignored, and the person makes no voluntary actions. Comas can have many causes, including trauma to the brain, falls, stroke, or induction by pharmaceutics in order to spare the patient extreme pain during healing.

A woman is brought to the Emergency Department after a severe fall and can’t be aroused; even during a cutdown for a central line, her entire body is flaccid.
