I remind myself of that every time I’m faced with uncertainty, difficulty or an inability to accept things and people as they are. Inherently, I was born to fight. Somewhere deep within there is a voice that says, “If things are not the way you want it to be, change it!”
And most times I do.
I push myself to exercise when I’m tired.
I force myself to write when I’m uninspired.
I find a way when I’ve reached a dead end.
But what I’m still working on is surrender. I forget that there is as much power and courage in acceptance as there is in fighting, and in being as there is in doing.
Happiness is a choice. Sometimes that means not fighting the fight. Sometimes that means finding acceptance, gratitude and peace with the moment as messy, imperfect and difficult as it is. Sometimes it means giving yourself permission to stop fighting and rest.
