Sexual Trauma

Asked by on with 1 answer:

About to have CPT but I have blocked and dissociated so much that I am uncertain if it will be helpful. It is in regards to sexual trauma. Also – I minimize a lot and have done that in this case as well. Do you think CPT will be beneficial even if I don’t remember much about the incident?

A: I do think it will be helpful as Cognitive Processing Therapy is specifically designed for use in recovery from sexual trauma. Here is a link to a review of the effectiveness.

Wishing you patience and peace,
