The Arc of the United States works through education, research and advocacy to improve the quality of life for children and adults with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities and their families and works to prevent both the causes and the effects of mental retardation. It is the country's largest voluntary organization committed to the welfare of all children and adults with mental retardation and their families.
