From psychology, psychiatry, and the behavioral sciences, to education and geography, the company is dedicated to bringing well-written, solidly researched work to professionals, academics, and interested general readers. Guilford's balance of continuity and innovation has enabled us to foster lasting relationships with authors as well as customers, and to produce and market numerous enduring titles. With more than 800 titles in print, we typically publish 80+ new professional, text, trade, and reference books each year. The company also produces 13 journals and 2 newsletters, as well as original video productions and software programs.

Since Guilford's first publication--Cognitive Therapy of Depression, from Aaron T. Beck and coauthors--we have been known for our works on frequently encountered mental health problems and effective treatment approaches. Recent releases in this area include Making Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Work: Clinical Process for New Practitioners, by Deborah Roth Ledley et al.; Mindfulness and Psychotherapy, edited by Christopher K. Germer et al.; and What Works for Whom?: Second Edition: A Critical Review of Psychotherapy Research, by Anthony Roth and Peter Fonagy. New titles on children and adolescents include Separation Anxiety in Children and Adolescents: An Individualized Approach to Assessment and Treatment, by Andrew R. Eisen and Charles E. Schaefer, and Breaking Through to Teens: A New Psychotherapy for the New Adolescence, by Ron Taffel.

In the academic sphere, Guilford is known for our major handbooks and texts in basic domains of psychological research. Current releases include The Development of the Person: The Minnesota Study of Risk and Adaptation from Birth to Adulthood, by L. Alan Sroufe et al., and Handbook of Competence and Motivation, edited by Andrew J. Elliot and Carol S. Dweck. Other titles assemble leading authorities to review the current state of knowledge in such fundamental areas as personality, social psychology, attachment, emotions, and social cognition.
