Cognitive Therapy Associates Cognitive Therapy Associates (CTA) is a network of highly skilled, affiliated therapists (licensed clinical psychologists and social workers) who all use a therapeutic approach called Cognitive Therapy, or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This kind of therapy has been demonstrated by clinical studies to be the most effective treatment for a variety of psychological difficulties: depression, anxiety/stress, panic, OCD, phobias, low self esteem, eating disorders, relationship problems, and more. The success of this therapy in clinical practice is rapidly increasing CBT's popularity as the treatment of choice for those who are seeking therapy.
The clinical director and founder of CTA is Allison Conner, Psy.D. Dr. Conner has been in practice since 1993, and she specializes in using both the standard Cognitive Therapy model as well as the Schema-Focused approach to treatment. In addition to managing the network of CTA therapists, Dr. Conner provides both individual and couples therapy in her Manhattan office, which is located near Lincoln Center.
CTA-affiliated therapists are located throughout New York City, Westchester County and Long Island. Preview Website -

Depravity ScaleTop Rated Currently, the terms “heinous” and “depraved” are used in courts to allow judges and juries to assign more severe sentences; yet, there is no standardized definition for these legal terms –leaving triers of fact to decide on the basis of mere emotions, which can be easily manipulated.
To combat this arbitrariness in sentencing, Dr. Michael Welner, a forensic psychiatrist and associate professor at NYU, has designed the Depravity Scale -- an objective, evidence-based instrument that standardizes the
specific intents, actions and attitudes according to public consensus.
The Depravity Scale is undergoing validation research at a secure site
(www.depravityscale.org), where participants are asked to weigh in on
the extent to which 26 items are representative of depravity. The next
phase, set to kick off next month, will engage the questions of
item-ranking and weighting for the final instrument, which will one day
be used as a guideline for juries at the sentencing phase of trials. Preview Website -

MMPI Questions to ask, Answers to findTop Rated The MMPI is the most frequently used clinical test. Therefore, it is employed quite often in court cases to provide personality information on defendants or litigants in which psychological adjustment factors are pertinent to resolution of the case. It is easy to administer and provides an objective measure of personality. Since it is such a well-researched and highly reliable instrument, it is often used in custody evaluations. It provides clear, valid descriptions of people's problems, symptoms, and characteristics in broadly accepted clinical language. The profiles are easy to explain in court and appear to be relatively easy for people to understand. However, with any psychological instrument, it is important to acquaint yourself with the background of the test and to acquaint yourself with the assets and liabilities of any test used to assess your client.
