A lily or a rose?Top Rated Welcome to my site
I am a survivor of abuse and bullying and my aim is to build a site which can be used as a resource for people dealing with mental health, bullying and abuse/trauma issues. It is also for people who would like to find out more - perhaps to help a family member or friend who is dealing with issues such as these. I just want to make a place where people can find friendship, support and understanding when they feel like no one cares or wants to listen. I hope that this can be a way for me to let out my feelings and begin to heal and to help others with my own experiences along the way.
Another aim of my website is to provide a place where people can share their creative side. Poetry, stories, drawings - anything goes. Many of my pages will be based around poems I have written, as this one is, and I have a page where people can share their own poetry and writings with others. Reading other people's stories and poetry can be very helpful for some people as it just helps them to feel that little bit less alone. Please send me anything you feel you would like to share and see up on my site, I really love reading other people's poetry and writings. Preview Website -

Adult Survivors of Child AbuseTop Rated Adult Survivors of Child Abuse (ASCA) is an individual and group support program for adult survivors of physical, sexual, and/or emotional child abuse or neglect.
ASCA's StepWork (21 steps) is a statement of the tasks and issues that most adult survivors face during their recovery from child abuse. Unlike some self-help programs, ASCA does not require that participants work the steps - although you may choose to do so - or that the steps be worked in a linear order. StepWork is a process whereby you concentrate on one particular step at a time in a given recovery program.
The Morris Center's "Survivor to Thriver" manual (a 115 page guidebook for ASCA participants, as well as for any survivor of physical, sexual and/or emotional child abuse or neglect) and all ASCA materials are available free to download. Preview Website -

Blain Nelson's Abuse PagesTop Rated Offers a load of information and resources on domestic violence and other types of abuse, although it's emphasis seems to be on the former. I liked it because it was written from the side of a former abuser, and so has a lot to say to those who may also be abusing their significant others and suggestions about how and where to get help. Could better present the information it has to offer, and check out a few broken links, but otherwise a top-notch resource. Preview Website -

Emotional and Verbal Abuse @ Suite101 Abuse is about control and the fear of losing it. Ill-treatment is an absurd effort to maintain and enhance the abuser's hegemony - social, cultural, legal, and, above all, psychological. Abusers exploit, lie, insult, demean, ignore (the "silent treatment"), manipulate, and control. There are a million ways to abuse, directly and by proxy.
This site at Suite101 hosts discussions, journal entries and links regarding emotional, verbal, and psychological abuse. Preview Website -

Acquaintance Rape: A Matter of Consent by Dr. Amy Menna The title of this article is "Acquaintance Rape: A Matter of Consent" by Dr. Amy Menna.
Excerpt:
Rape. It is a powerful word for a power hungry act. It breeds fear and in many cases, it breeds silence. It is important that this silence be broken, and survivors be heard. By doing so, we break the grasp that rape has upon so many. The aftermath can be immense. The journey to heal may be terrifying; the steps, long and tedious. By building a bridge of awareness and empowerment, woman and men who have experienced rape can be healed and heard Preview Website -

Silence Speaks Violence shapes the lives, experiences, and dreams of countless adults and children each year. In the case of people of color, lesbian/gay/bisexual/ transgender individuals, and youth, this violence can be compounded by experiences of racism; homo/transphobia; and ageism and insensitivity to youth culture. Sadly, few opportunities exist for survivors to tell their stories in their own words. Silence Speaks fills this gap by connecting survivors and witness of abuse with their creativity and making their voices the centerpiece of violence prevention and social justice efforts.

Women's LawTop Rated WomensLaw.org was founded in February 2000 by a group of lawyers, teachers, advocates, and web designers interested in seeing the power of the Internet work for more disadvantaged people and specifically for survivors of domestic violence. We pulled together our experiences and resources and launched this website in October 2001.WomensLaw.org changed its formal name from Women's Law Initiative in 2005.
The Mission of WomensLaw.org is to provide easy-to-understand legal information and resources to women living with or escaping domestic violence or sexual assault. By reaching out through the Internet, we empower women and girls to lead independent lives, free from abuse.
As you will see on these pages, the site publishes state-specific legal information for domestic violence. It also publishes information on getting help in your community. We also provide help through email, directly to women and advocates, throughout the U.S. Preview Website -
