HOBOKEN , N.J. -- Dr. Susanne Wetzel, Assistant Professor in Stevens Institute of Technology's Computer Science department, will give a presentation at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) 2007 Annual Meeting. Wetzel will present "Malware in a Wirelessly Networked World" during the session, "Malware: The Next Big Internet Threat" on Feb. 18, 2007 at 3:30 p.m.
This year's AAAS Annual Meeting will be held in San Francisco from February 15 to 19.
Professor Wetzel and Professor Rebecca Wright have developed a new undergraduate degree program in cybersecurity with funding from the National Science Foundation. Stevens is one of the few universities worldwide to offer such a cybersecurity degree program at the undergraduate level.
Under the directon of Professors Wetzel and Wright, a new Cybersecurity Lab is currently being designed and built in The Lawrence T. Babbio, Jr. Center at Stevens, with equipment grants from Cisco and SUN, as well as additional funding from the National Science Foundation.
Dr. Wetzel joined the faculty in the Computer Science Department as an Assistant Professor in 2003. She received a Diploma in Computer Science from the University in Karlsruhë, Germany, and her doctoral degree in Computer Science from Saarland University, Germany, in 1998. Subsequently, she worked at DaimlerChrysler Research in Stuttgart, as well as Lucent Technologies Bell Laboratories in the US and RSA Laboratories in Stockholm, Sweden.
Dr. Wetzel's areas of specialty are cryptography, including security, secret sharing, privacy and biometrics; and algorithmic number theory.
