Herrington's annual 2006 'State of the Shore Report,' May 22
Stevens' coastal expert to feature at Sandy Hook, N.J., presentationHOBOKEN, N.J. -- On Monday, May 22, 2006, Dr. Tom Herrington of Stevens Institute of Technology and the Coastal Process Specialist for the NJMSC/NJ Sea Grant Marine Extension Program will present his annual report on the state of New Jersey beaches produced in collaboration with Dr. Stew Farrell, Director of the Coastal Research Center at Stockton College.
The press event will take place on the beach at Seagull's Nest, Sandy Hook, NJ beginning at 3:00 p.m. Attendees may park in area 'D'.
Joining Dr. Herrington will be NJDEP Commissioner Lisa Jackson, Nancy Byrne, Director of NJ Travel and Tourism, Secretary of Agriculture Charles Kuperus, CEO/Secretary of Commerce, Economic Growth and Tourism Commission, Virginia Bauer, Dr. Michael P. Weinstein, President of the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium and Noreen Bodman of the Jersey Shore Partnership.
The event is being sponsored by the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium and Stevens Institute of Technology.
Copies of the NJMSC Annual 2006 State of the Shore Report will be available. In addition a newly released study on public beach access, prepared by Dr. Bonnie McCay of Rutgers and Andy Wilner the NY/NJ Baykeeper will be distributed to the press.
