Masternak set to receive the Geron Corporation - Samuel Goldstein Distinguished Publication Award
Southern Illinois University's Dr. Michal M. Masternak has been chosen by The Gerontological Society of America to receive its 2005 Geron Corporation - Samuel Goldstein Distinguished Publication Award. He is accepting the honor for the selected paper, "Divergent Effects of Caloric Restriction on Gene Expression in Normal & Long-Lived Mice."
The co-authors of this study are Khalid Al-Regaiey, Michael S. Bonkowski, Jacob Panici, Liou Sun, Jian Wang, and Andrzej Bartke of Southern Illinois University and Grzegorz K. Przybylski of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The award presentation will take place at GSA's 58th Annual Scientific Meeting, which will be held from November 18th-22nd, 2005 in Orlando, FL. The actual conferral will occur on Sunday the 20th at 12:15 p.m. at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort. The meeting is organized to foster interdisciplinary interactions among clinical, administrative, and research professionals in the field of gerontology.
Established in 1994, the Geron Corporation - Samuel Goldstein Distinguished Publication Award is awarded to the best paper published in the Society's Journal of Gerontology: Biological Sciences for the period of May of the previous year to March of the current year. The paper chosen is selected and determined solely by the editorial board of the Journal of Gerontology: Biological Sciences.
