WHO: The Massachusetts Biotechnology Council (MBC) Drug Discovery Committee and Northeastern University invite you to a new event in drug discovery technology. With the variety of new tools and knowledge available today to more rapidly develop advanced therapies, we have the "critical mass" in the Boston area to lead the world in drug discovery.
WHAT: Alexandros Makriyannis, PhD, Behrakis Trustee Chair in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Director, The Center for Drug Discovery, Northeastern University. Dr. Makriyannis comes to Northeastern this fall after 30 years at University of Connecticut and will continue his work on novel medications, drug mechanisms of action, and new therapeutic drug technologies.
Abbie Celniker, PhD, Senior Vice President of R & D Strategy and Operations, Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (MPI). In this role, Dr. Celniker is responsible for the oversight of the pipeline portfolio and project management activities at MPI. Prior to joining MPI, Dr. Celniker was the Assistant Vice President of Biotherapeutic Research Technologies at the Genetics Institute division of Wyeth Ayerst Research and prior to that was a Senior Scientist/Associate Director in the Medicinal and Analytical Chemistry department at Genentech, Inc.
