Institute for OneWorld Health CEO to speak at BIO on leveraging opportunities for global health

Victoria Hale, founder and CEO of the Institute for OneWorld Health, the first nonprofit pharmaceutical company in the U.S., will speak at the BIO 2004 Annual International Convention in the Global Health track during a breakout session titled Mutually Inclusive: New and Affordable Drugs for Developed, Developing Worlds.

The session will highlight how a collaboration among industry, new nonprofits and other public sector groups might enable drug companies to maximize their assets and underutilized intellectual property without compromising their profitability goals. At the same time, such collaborations could demonstrate greater corporate social responsibility and result in affordable new drugs for diseases of the developing world, with application for commercial drugs for the developed world.

Chair: Tom Brewer, Senior Project Officer, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
Speakers: Victoria Hale, CEO, Institute for OneWorld Health; Chris Hentschel, CEO, Medicines for Malaria Venture; Lynn Marks, Senior Vice President, GlaxoSmithKline; Wendy Taylor, Executive Director, BIO Ventures for Global Health

OneWorld Health will also participate in the International Biotechnology Marketplace and will sponsor a booth at the annual convention. OneWorld Health advances global health by developing new, affordable medicines for infectious diseases that disproportionately affect people in the developing world.
