An intentional interpersonal relationship between a client and a trained therapist (can include psychologists, counselors, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, and licensed clinical social workers), whose aim is to help a client increase subjective well-being and deal with problems appropriately. There are many different psychotherapeutic treatment modalities, including psychoanalysis, cognitive behavioral therapy, humanistic therapy, and somatic psychology.
