A personality disorder characterized by extreme emotional reactivity and an excessive need for attention and approval from others.

Example: The client feels uncomfortable unless she is the center of attention, often dressing provocatively or behaving inappropriately in order to get others to notice her. Her therapist diagnoses her with HPD.
