Introjection

By Renée Grinnell

A psychological process that involves internalizing some aspect of one’s environment, particularly of the people in that environment.

Example: A boy is berated and beaten by his father. Within a few days, this formerly cheerful child kicks the dog and calls his sister a “stupid, stupid brat!”
