False sensory perception(s) while awakening (hypnopomp refers to the state between wakefulness and sleep). This issue can be a symptom of narcolepsy.
Example: A woman awakens to an image of her dead father’s face in the window. She attempts to flee but finds she is paralyzed and helpless.
