Also known as “clang association”, clanging is a manner of speaking in which words are chosen for their related sounds rather than logical meanings. Many patients with psychotic mental illnesses such as schizophrenia present these symptoms.
Example: “He went in entry in trying tieing sighing dying ding-dong dangles dashing dancing ding-a-ling!”
