Cataplexy

Abrupt loss of postural control after experiencing a strong emotion, without decreased consciousness. Often affects narcoleptics.

Example: A woman begins to laugh at a joke, then abruptly crumples to the floor. She’s alert and very embarrassed about this lapse.
