Autism

By Renée Grinnell

A brain development disorder characterized the onset of by repetitive and limited behavior, impaired social interaction, and communication problems before a child reaches the age of three. There is no cure, and people with autism are generally unable to live independently during adulthood.

Example: The child was diagnosed with autism after her concerned parents described her repetitive hand flapping, rocking, and stacking of toys to the specialist.
