Anticipation

Emotional rehearsal for possible future situations. Anticipation can involve feelings of excitement about a future pleasurable event, irritation at having to wait for the experience
, or both.

Example: His three-year-old daughter hasn’t stopped talking about their upcoming trip to the circus all week. Every day she asks him whether it’s Saturday yet, and gets angry when informed that the weekend has not yet arrived.
