A lot of research has been undertaken previously in this area, most generally agree with these findings. A child’s path in later life is certainly influenced by their early expeirences, whether they are positive or negative. A child who witnesses parental domestic violence is more likely to engage in such behaviors than a child who does not witness such things. Children view such behavior as being appropriate, because its something their parents do (or did). Unless intervention is implemented, these children are likely to mirror thier parent’s behaviors. Generally, intervention involves therapy, usually long-term, to address and “reprogram” the child’s beliefs about appropriate behaviors.
