  1. There are interesting publications about neuropsichological deficite as a predictor of schizophrenia.

  2. Hi,
We have had a difficult time getting a diagnosis on our 26 Y O daughter. She has seen numerous psychiatrists, but we’re concerned that either she isn’t telling the doctors her true symptoms. We feel she is very worried about what could be wrong with her since she does know the family history of schizophrenia in her biological family. She has had issues with substance abuse but now has increasing signs of something more than just this. As far as we know she does not have hallucinations but has all of the other symptoms. These symptoms have worsen over the past five years. Will there come a time, if she stays alive, that it becomes obvious to a psychiatrist what her condition is? She is capable of putting on an act, being very intimidating and convincing that she needs a amphetamine for depression and Xanax for anxiety, but these drugs only make her worse. With her age being legal, it is very hard to have the chance to speak with her doctor, and now she has a new one again, who she will not disclose their name with us. Just feel totally helpless and worried her way of living will cause her life to be lost. We have thought about going to some Nami meetings her in the area, which we have about 10 years ago. She has been in and out of the hospital for years now, and we realize now with her age legally she doesn’t have to tell us any of her mental conditions, but we have taken mental inquisition out on her several times, all of which she convinces those doctors when taken to the hospital that she is ok, so they release her. Does anyone have any ideas of how to get her a correct diagnosis for her to be treated? Just feel so helpless.
    Thanks so much!
    Katylia

    • Hi, sorry to hear about your daughter. You say that she has all the symptoms except hallucinations? What symptoms does she have? She may not have schizophrenia but another disorder instead?
