  1. The idea that the view of “It just doesn’t matter” still exists confirms my belief that there is an incredible amount to learn about the brain and disorders associated with it such as schizophrenia. Psychology and Psychiatry as medical fields are still relatively new and have much to be discovered and researched. Schizophrenia and other very intrusive disorders seem to be incredible misunderstood by the general public, and apparently the general medical community as well.
For such a harmful disorder affecting the patient and everyone around them stemming from the most important single organ in the human body- the brain- it is astonishing the amount of underfunding for the research and practice of psychiatry and psychological therapies in modern medicine. Not only for extreme diseases such as Schizophrenia but also for general well being and health of the public. A better mental healthcare system with a dramatic increase of funding would have a giant impact on the progression of knowledge about mental health and the effectiveness of treatment and understanding of treatment for mental disorders. Treatment now seems to be rather hit and miss which I imagine to be incredible frustrating for those going through the disorder and treatment process themselves or those loved ones around them that must witness it. There is so much more to be understood about the brain than to just assume that a disorder is not treatable. I am so glad for this revelation you have posted.
