Learning to Relax (Or Not)

  1. You’re definitely right. We need to learn how to relax. Unfortunately in our go-go world this can be a challenge. But it’s actually key to being more productive, ironically.

  2. One fine way to relax is to learn Integral Yoga Hatha sequences,leading to deep relaxation, or yoga nidra, then continue with pranayama– breath excercises, and finish with meditation.

    When time is limited, deep breathing can help you relax as you go along in your day. Focussing on the breath is a fine relaxation excercise. I call it yoga’s secret weapon.

  3. Excellent post. I think seeing myself as “expendable” can be a good thing for me. I’m a team leader as a teacher and some days are quite overwhelming. Your quote: “The world keeps going even when we’re not in it.” is what spoke to me most in your post. We come back from that “disconnect” much stronger. It’s ironic really.

  4. Nothing is so important that it can’t exist without us… so true – and the only thing that can’t exist without us is our own self;
    the importance to be given to the self for internal growth and balance stands out strikingly no matter how many ‘materialistic things we end up being part of.
    With the way the situation around us is looking, we find that if we are alive, it is because somewhere within us, we have tried to keep that balance going. And now the time is all the more right to have this balance strengthened for future times.

  5. perfect article for me returning from the beach, where i think i did better at relaxing than last time. honestly, i felt like sponge bob.
