Do You Know Thyself? Questions to Ask YourselfA key–perhaps the key–to a happy life is self-knowledge, because as the Fifth Splendid Truth holds, I can build a happy life only on the foundation of my own nature. In my own case, I’ve found that the more my life reflects my real interests, values, and temperament, the happier I become.

But it’s very hard to know ourselves. It’s easy to be distracted by the way we wish we were, or think we ought to be, or what others think we should be, until we lose sight of what is actually true. There’s a certain sadness to self-knowledge.

  1. Here’s a question for your list… What was your dream when you were a teen? What did you want to be when you grew up, before reality stepped in??

  2. Great questions. I find that really knowing yourself involves not only knowing what your strengths are but more importantly your weaknesses and how to ver come them.

  3. Great and very helpful post.
    My questions:
*What tipps would your 99 year old you give to the person you are right now?
*What in your life makes you most happy?
    *What is your favorite place?

  4. Thank you for this post. I know you wrote it a while ago, but I liked it so much that I included a link in my own blog post. I listed 5 questions that led to a revelation on my own relationship with money, but shared your link for a more comprehensive view from a professional! I’d love your feedback.
