I hope you’er not serious but if you are check out “The Mindful way through Depression” by Mark Williams and a few others. If you do what it says you will understand Mindfulness, and also that “thinking nothing” is not an option.
Trying to do mindfulness, and evaulating how well you are doing is the best way to not have it work.
The COAl system works very well when watching your mind: C-curosity O-observe A-accept
L- with love. Whatever comes up is acceptable. There is no such thing as unwanted thoughts in practicing mindfulness.
Mindfulness is about noticing what IS, even if it doesn’t fit with your idea of what should be. Just acceptance of what is, relaxing into the here and now, no need to force anything, no need to bully yourself or criticize….
It is usually easier to learn in a serene setting, but reality is the real setting, so mindfulness is simply being present in the reality of the moment you are in- even if the kid is throwing up and you have a headache, mindfulness can be.
