As human beings, we sometimes take for granted that our minds and bodies are harmoniously in sync with the world around us. It makes sense to believe that we are created with the ability to emotionally handle life’s challenges. However, when we juxtapose societal issues with the nature of human emotions, it becomes clear that the issue isn’t so simple.
Society is a man-made system that is dependent on people to uphold the structure. Without people, society collapses.

I am standing and applauding you Nathan Feiles. This is by far the most informative and accurate article I have ever read her. Thank you.
Now to vent my frustration. Imagine you had a spouse who had a deep seeded inability to trust dating back to childhood. A trigger waiting to happen with the advent of a child birth when weighed against the actions of a catholic school girl raised borderline. Imagine together you spent 10 years concurring those demons and accepting they happened and are part of the past. Now imagine the trigger happens, she goes to a GP who gets her to admit she is “anxious and a little depressed” and prescribes her a drug that alleviates that anxiety by removing the concept of reality. Unhindered by guilt, she returns to the 19 yr old school girl who was acting out. Imagine every therapist you turned to didn’t believe you and saw you as nothing more then “spited ex-to be”. Welcome to my hell. These are the nuances of AD’s that can’t be documented. When you realize that the mind longs to “pleasure itself”, and not being able to do so can lead to anxiety and depression, removing those traits become obviously dangerous to a family.
Thanks again for writing this. Nice to hear it from somebody else sometimes. It probably means your crazy too.
Wow. I am going to keep this one. How very insightful. I need to reread it routinely and digest every part of it. Coming to grips with the truths written here may help me in understanding my shortcomings and dealing with life changes that I have trouble adjusting to.
