  1. Over the years I have had detachment issues with my parents. I am a 25 year old
female and an only child. Recently, a lot of past issues have began to come to the
surface and I am having an internal struggle with resenting my parents for their
past treatment of myself as well as this terrible guilt thing. I feel terribly
and overwhelmingly guilty for past behaviors with them as well as feeling this
strong hurt for them. The two of them had tragic upbringings. They have been so great to
me, but they hurt me so much too. I am struggling terribly with resenting (causing
me to stay away) as well as hurting for them (almost feeling protective of them.) I
do not understand what’s going on here.
