I think the online expirements are cool because people can become subjects without leaving their home and computer. Although online expirements do have their risks I find them helpful if some researcher wants to tap into a larger community pool.
Check out the Online Psych Lab (http://opl.apa.org)! There are both experiments (under “studies”) and interactive activities (under “resources”).
Good post, but the one thing I was actually excited about (the fact that the meta-list of online psychology experiments had a positive psychology section) turned out to not be true that I can see.
Excellent article. It is nice to see someone focusing on more substantive experiments versus all of the attention paid to “pop psychology tests”. This also represents a nice variety of studies.
In addition to the drawbacks listed, despite us being a part of the information age, there are still a lot of people who can not access the internet. Thus the data will always remain questionable and biased. However, I suspect this is true even when the proper sampling is attempted.
Check out the Policy (Implicit Association test) IAT. This is a test investigating if subjects implicitly prefer regulations or markets.
PSYCHOLOGY OF MAGIC
Participants needed for a psychological study involving Magic Tricks.
This is a FUN study where you will be asked to watch 10 short clips involving magic tricks. Short questionnaires will follow each clip. The study will be done by internet so there is NO need for displacement. The study will take about 30 minutes. If you are interested, please contact irina.demacheva@mail.mcgill.ca / (514) 962-1656

I know this is an old post, but I want to recommend my new website http://yourpsyche.org. We’re trying to take the best of the existing projects and create a truly interesting and engaging experience for participants.

Thanks for the list. More and more, psychological testing is becoming a major part the corporate landscape. Understanding how the many tests work and how to prepare for them is important if you want certain corporate positions.

I think they should try the “FaceResearch” combined with a study on the affect of alcohol and vision. They were testing the effects of “beer goggles” on MythBusters one time and it seemed that various people take drinking differently. One person got nicer, while the other person was mean!
Just a thought.
something interesting, online research and survey campaigns are very good for the studies because it can involve large number of people at a given point of time hence giving better results and acceptance in the society.
