Happy Independence Day, 2013As America celebrates its 237th birthday today, I want to wish you all a happy and safe Fourth of July! It’s a great pleasure, joy and, yes, even an honor to have been born and to live in these United States.

A country isn’t born overnight, or without the pain and suffering of millions of people that have helped make it all possible. We shouldn’t ever allow fear — of the unknown, of random acts of terrorism, of changing ourselves — to override our hard-fought freedoms. Not just external freedom, but our own internal freedom too. Because we all have a right to be free — even of our own demons.

On behalf of everyone here at Psych Central, we hope you have a great day hanging out with family and friends, enjoying a nice BBQ (or other delicious meal), and watching some spectacular fireworks celebrating our country’s birthday. Have a safe and fun holiday!
