I’m pleased to help spread the word today about the world’s first online global science competition, the Google Science Fair!
Google has partnered with CERN, LEGO, National Geographic and Scientific American to create a new kind of online science competition that is more global, open and inclusive than ever before. Students aged 13 – 18 from around the world are invited to enter and compete for awesome once-in-a-lifetime experiences, scholarships and real-life work opportunities.

Who doesn’t like a good science fair? It gives kids the opportunity to join in a new kind of online science competition that is more global, open and inclusive than ever before. Best yet, it offers full-time students ages 13 – 18 the chance to win big prizes — including a 10-day trip to the Galapagos Islands and a $50,000 scholarship!
Teens interested in signing up for the competition can choose from one of the 11 categories:
- Computer Science & Math
- Earth & Environmental Sciences
- Behavioral & Social Sciences
- Flora & Fauna
- Energy & Space
- Inventions & Innovation
- Physics
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Food Science
- Electricity & Electronics
Psychology is often left out of these kinds of competitions, so I especially like that there is a behavioral and social sciences category — a category that includes anything in the world of psychology.
The prizes are pretty sweet too –
The one (1) Grand Prize Winner will receive a US$50,000 Scholarship from Google and his or her choice of experience from CERN, Google, LEGO or Scientific American and a trip to the Galapagos Islands with National Geographic Expeditions.
The two (2) Category Winners who did not win the Grand Prize will receive a US$25,000 Scholarship from Google and Sponsor’s choice of Experience from CERN, Google, LEGO or Scientific American.
Interested in Signing Up?
If you’re between the ages of 13 to 18, check it out! But hurry up… because according to the rules, the open call for entries ends at 11:59 pm ET on April 4, 2011 (Monday night).
