Video: Humor Heals

By Therese J. Borchard
April 9, 2009

Apparently I upset a few folks in my recent video, “Being Married to a Manic Depressive,” when I used the term “whackjob” to describe MYSELF. I sincerely apologize for offending anyone by my use of that term. I feel I owe you an explanation as to why I use the language I do in “Beyond Blue,” and the importance of humor in my recovery from depression and addiction.

“Video: Humor Heals”

I thought I was going to laugh with you on this one, but instead, you bring tears to my eyes. In a good way.

I think your dad would be very proud of you.

So what I get from this is that since I’m a shrink I can let loose with the shrink jokes, but I have to give up lawyer jokes? Bummer!

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Your humor is a gift and I’m so glad you aren’t afraid to use it.
