Firstly thanks to all of you dedicated for providing online help on ADD and ADHD problem for families in crisis. It is true that Ritalin or Adderall are very effective medicated drugs used for ADHD treatments. My son who is now of 13 years was suffering from ADHD problem before 3 years. Counselor prescribed him Ritalin which helped him in getting recovery from Attention Deficit Disorder. Now my kid is living calm life.

Thank you for this article. And thank you to Guy Kawasaki for bringing it to my attention.

This is one of the few articles about adhd in children that I agree with completely.

I, too, have found that "providing medication first reduces parental desire to pursue behavioral treatments."

Behavioral parent training - Parent training is crucial because without it, children's attitude and behavior issues can get more extreme quickly.

I believe that the right parent training can solve the 75% of the unacceptable characteristics that medication can't, provided, of course, that parents adopt the new parenting skills.

Parents CAN do MUCH more to improve their children's chances for success than is commonly known. And the simple revision to our parenting style pays off in enormous benefits for the entire family.

Thank you for this opportunity to share my opinion.

Sincerely yours in parenting success,
Debra Sale Wendler
