If anyone is interested in a large body of research showing the benefits of incorporating client feedback about progress and the therapeutic alliance in psychotherapy - check out the Institute for the Study of Therapeutic Change (google it for the website). Like the PSQ-9, they developed two feasible measures, the Outcome Rating Scale (ORS) and Session Rating Scale (SRS) which have been shown to improve outcomes with clients. I couldn't imagine practicing without them now. They are free to download, although you would have to do some reading in order to incorporate them properly (check out the The Heroic Client by Duncan, Miller, and Sparks (2004)too for more info).
