I am a chinese. And I spends more than 10 hours per day online.

I never think government’s declaration has something relating with me, Because that’s the need of my job!

I agree with Drew. We don’t actually know the reason why China decided to do this. Maybe its what Drew suggested, maybe its for control or it might even be a way to get people to be more productive. I don’t know what the actual reason is, but I think China isn’t the commie demon this article portrays. If you look at recent Chinese statistics, you’ll find that poverty has decreased dramatically and so has living standards.

I think it’s fair to say that china has low standards on human rights, and this is a prime example. However you also need to acknowledged that the China today is not like the China in Mao’s time.

I see this as an over reaction and an economically viable way to treat an addiction. Having gone through several addictions myself there are SOME cases that require treatment such as this.To be honest about the mindset behind it I have no idea what the actual reasoning was but I can see it as easier to “imprison and treat” when prisons are already abundant. Instead of “isolate and treat” which is the standard. To be honest there isn’t much of a difference. So I say be weary of jumping on the commy-bashing band wagon and think reasonably.
