Nice article, I would have like to hear more about the complainer and figure a way on how to deal with him on long-term. Let say you have a co-worker that keeps complaining, I understand I have to listen to him, but it has to stop sometime. I can't keep on working with someone who is always complaining. It will become counter-productive and create a depressive atmosphere.

There is a flux of situations which complicate the tagging down of others and ourselves into the pegs. The pegs change in accordance to the different situations, company, time of day, health, moods. We are all changing moods and tolerances, these guides are great as snapshots as to what the current situation.
We can also be a different person at work and at home and with friends. Good luck with the path walked and awareness and self mastery.

Agree with Pachyderm. As people with mental disorders, we ARE difficult people. Many of us have been victims of this "advice," which is just the "since you can't get them totally out of your life" variant of "surround yourself with only positive HAPPY people and don't allow all those nasty people with problems to radiate their negativity all over your transparently thin skin."

Hey! What if you *are* a "difficult" person?

I think making categories like this is a disservice to actual people. Put them into a category and then you do not have to think about all the myriad variations in people, how they may be having a bad day -- or even if you yourself fit into one of these categories sometimes!

I have heard that if someone who is angry counts from 1-10 slowly while keeping his fist closed then he can control his anger.
