Like I was actually just randomly considering murdering people and when I would be talking to people I would picture myself slicing their heads off or strangling them. It was so strange and now after the fact very disturbing to me. I tried watching some of the videos I was watching and they made me sick to my stomach. Just, really creepy stuff.

I was prescribed prozac like 4 months ago and took it for probably around 6 or 7 weeks. The prozac made my anxiety and depression shoot through the roof (I took it for minor anxiety, was not depressed at all). I also started getting violent, homicidal thoughts which I will admit I actually also had in high school while I was on anti-depressants as well. I didn't connect the two earlier, but this time I only took it for a short period of time and got right back off. Anyway I started becoming obsessed with violence and murder and constantly read about serial killers and went to gore web sites. I duno, be very weary of taking SSRIs they can really fuck with your head. Been off it for a while and I'm back to normal. Slight anxiety, but that I can deal with. It's just very strange to look back at the thoughts that were going through my head with a normal state of mind, very scary.

I am curious as to what effect a single 20mg daily version dose of prozac has in the brain and system. About 8 days ago I took my first capsule. Within 6 hours I began to feel really strange, spacey disoriented, fatigued, not like myself, and other symptoms. I stopped taking it emmediately. None the less these symptoms/side effects got much worse rendering me nearly unable to function. For the past 8 days I have feel really wierd, spacey, dizzy, easily confused, total brain fog, extreme fatigue, a heaviness in my head, and numerous other horrible symptoms that has been constant without end despite discontinuation after the first dose. since this began I have taken 3 aroebics classes and sat in the sauna steam and jacuzzi those days and 4 other days. All of this positive work hasn't helped me feel any better, and I feel like this will never end or like my brain is messed up temporarily. Is it possible for a single dose of prozac to do this to me or is this some kind of somatic response? Thanks

[...] Furious Seasons has an angry response to a recent show about the connection between Prozac and the NIU tragedy. We discussed the possible link to Prozac and violence a few days after the tragedy here and didn’t find strong evidence connecting the two. Especially in light of the fact that the NIU murderer, Steven Kazmierczak, had apparently discontinued use of Prozac 3 weeks prior to the killings. [...]

It's interesting that you mention a long-term lowering of oxytocin levels, even after withdrawal of the drug. Because oxytocin is involved in relaxation, trust and empathy, could its lack contribute to violence against others?
