Sounds like another case where psychiatrists enable a person addicted to drugs with “therapeutic” psych medications.

She needs to change everything in her life to get well; this includes her people, places, and playthings. The sad part about it is her identity as a star will always haunt her. Who will really listen to her heart? She’ll feel guilt how she’s acted around her kids and the shame will only reinforce her drug use.

It’s really sad. I wish I could give her a hug and find her a really good chemical dependency counselor who will kick her butt back into shape. Her kids need her.

If you ask me, the enormous amount of paparazzi certainly adds on to her mental behavior. The woman can’t breathe without someone examining every atom that comes out of her mouth. I think the whole vacation idea is pretty good.

This all feels a bit hypocritical. We all wish her the best, and agree that the media is contributing through constantly talking about her.
Yet even here, on a site supposedly promoting mental health, you chat about her, although in a less intrusive way.
Can’t we keep it to chatting about mental health research, rather than more picking over a celebrity’s difficult times?

I think Britney Spears is at the point now that she is so deperate for any kind of attention that she’ll do anything. I think that has always been her problem. FOr so long she was always a back story, a child star. Her new drama gets her back into the spotlight. It’s disgusting to see that it has gotten to the point where she basically abuses her kids and threatens the safety of lives other than her own. She needs to be kept behind closed and LOCKED doors for a very long time. The media is messing with her head.

I think everyone also needs to wait to hear from a reliable source before concluding someone has bipolar or some other disorder. There are many people in this world who “act out” as a result of other things besides mental disorder. Britney lives in a different world than the “normal” populace and may have learned to react to things differently than would you or I. She has been living in “Hollywood,” where everything is over-the-top, and that may be the only way she knows how to cope with the incredibly stressful events going on in her life. Anti-psychotics and mood stabilizers are very necessary for those who truly need them, but have terrible side effects. I think her doctors need to err on the side of caution and “treat the whole person” before looking for a quick fix.

A lot of $ is being made by the entertainment industry on this, unfortunately.

I hope she survives and thrives.

I wish she had space too, I was thinking on this last night, wishing she could go someplace far from the paparazzi, where she can heal.

Looks to be a real unhealthy cycle for everyone involved. She is vulnerable driving around where she can easily be followed. I wonder if she got addicted to that process somehow too. Then those who follow her invade her privacy and feed the gossip monster. Not helping anyone but is making $.

I’d be impressed if the entire entertainment industry said something like: “We wish her well. All of us are going to entirely leave her alone now because we recognize that we are part of the problem.”

Yes, although the police escort was kind of disturbing to watch the amount of police needed to keep the paparazzi at bay. And then at the hospital, to see the sheer number of photographers and such trying to take pictures of anything and everything.

It is “news,” but it’s still only one person. I wish they would give her some space to actually try to get better. She would likely do well to move somewhere incognito to hang out for a few weeks in peace and quiet…
