Sometimes it's easy to forget that the carers and close family are affected as much as the person with the disease.

[...] Over the past year, I’ve written a few posts on Alzheimer’s and dementia in general, touting the benefits of both physical and mental exercises for delaying the progression of this horrible illness. However, short of mall-walking or shuffle board and playing chess, what can the elderly do for exercise and mental stimulation? Well here’s a short list non-traditional activities the 60+ crowd is doing right now to stimulate their minds and bodies; [...]

I agree that it is very important to allow the correct and full knowledge of what illnesses can happen and if you already have someone going through something like Alzheimer's disease. It can be very confusing and upsetting to the youth in the family that are watching their loved ones going through these things.
I used to think that if the questions did not get asked and we just acted like everything was fine that it would never be noticed until recently I had a guess you could call it a relapse in behaviors I have depression and am close to be completely disabled because of things that are wrong with my back I never thought that my kids noticed the difference because no questions were asked but I over heard them talking and discussing what was wrong with mommy and how they could change to help out. Because of the lack of information they assumed that it was their fault; my heart was breaking how could I allow my problems to turn into my kids thinking they were to blame so I turned to insightpros.com and got the information on how to approach the situation with my children so they would understand.
