The Productivity Impact Model version 3.0 is nifty online software for employers to calculate the financial impact of untreated vs. treated depression in employees. Input demographics specific to your company and the software walks you through steps with the projected costs of time off, presenteeism and lost productivity, untreated medical costs, treatment costs, and projections of savings. For example, I ran a sample analysis for a national company (USA only) of 1000 employees, and the net benefit from treatment of diagnosed employees was between $27,707 – $78,640 per year. Calculations are based on established workplace and health research data. Show your boss: money talks.
