[...] Reading this article about self-esteem with americans and east asians I was a bit surprised. I have always seen the asian crowd at my school (although SAS is a bad example since basicallt everyone is “americanized”) as more insecure than the americans (since I am european and the article does not discuss europeans I use other people as examples). The article wrote about a new study that shows that both types of people posess basically the same amount of self-esteem. I have always seen americans as a bit more loud and more “here-I-am-look-at-me” and mistaken that for self-esteem. I guess that self-esteem can be shown in different ways and not just the loud way. If there are americans reading this, I’m sorry, what I am saying does not apply for everyone and it’s just my opinions. Surveying more than 500 students, they found that implicit, or automatic, self-esteem was strongly positive among students from each of the nations. [...]

Interesting find. It's indeed fascinating that culture doesn't affect a person's self esteem, since we all know that culture reflects to our character.
However, there could still be other results since the subjects involved were university students only.
