Buddhist philosophy and the practice of meditation continues to have a large influence on current Western thought about psychological treatment. Mindfulness is growing into an entire field of anxiety treatment, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is making waves with CBT therapists, and now it appears that meditation can improve attention. It is obviously very early, but meditation shows promise for treatment of ADHD and other attention problems. Some studies are already underway, and I’m hoping that these areas continue to be researched and that answers will someday be revealed.

“Meditation Improves Attention”
I have a great deal of interest in meitation for my clinical depression. I am sixty seven years old and have had panic attacks and clinical depression for about thirty years. I use antidepressents and talk therapy but now my cognition has gotten to a point that I cannot drive a car. I have never heard about a residual effect of medication but I do have some side effects.
