We have been chronicling media reports about alternatives to tradiational talk therapy and medication over the past few months. The newest installment is on “zennis”, which combines playing tennis and zen meditation. From a more general angle, physical exercise is an empirically proven way to improve your mood. Experiments have been conducted on people feeling depressed, and results consistently show that engaging in some sort of exercise can have a host of positive psychological outcomes.
“Almost every exercise is about getting the client to free themselves from their limitations, expectations, positive or negative.”
Therefore, working exercise into your daily routine, even if it’s lifestyle exercise like taking the stairs can have mental as well as physical benefits. Furthermore, I’m not sure how things like zennis pop onto the mainstream media radar, but I’m guessing it involves hiring a publicist.
