My Vote Counts, So Does Yours

I'm voting for Kerry on Tuesday!
I’m here to tell you who I’m voting for on Tuesday, and why. I’m voting for John Kerry this presidential election. Here’s why…

  • John Kerry has served in the military. Bush did something while the Vietnam war raged, but what it is isn’t exactly clear and he’s never been willing to clear it up. I’d rather a Commander-in-Chief who has respect for the military and knows what it means to send 1,000 men to their deaths in Iraq (as Bush has done, already 1/3 of the total losses the U.S. suffered in 9/11, against a country that had no connection with 9/11!). It is also because Bush has never been on the firing line himself that he seems unshamed that our troops are in Iraq with insufficient means to protect themselves, or even enough bullets! (as per the 10/31 60 minutes report)
  • John Kerry will lead the US back to the middle ground. Bush has led us to an extreme, one where the entire world now looks down upon Americans as being imperialists and nation-builders. People who would invade any sovereign nation on the flimiest of pretexts.
  • Bush lied more than once, and he lied about the most important thing during his presidency — why we went into Iraq and the outrageous claim that because we did so, we are now safer against terrorists. This bald-faced lie is too much, and as anyone knows today, the U.S. is actually less safe against a terrorist attack because of our invasion of Iraq. We have fueled the anti-American ire of the extremists, which is the exact opposite course of action one would like to follow.
  • Bush has ignored domestic policy. He failed to fully fund his own “No Child Left Behind” act, meaning that thousands of children were left behind. He’s had no vision, plan, strategy, or really anything much of significance to say or do about domestic policies for 4 years. I look at his record and say, “What has he done?” Nothing. Oh, yeah, he did give everyone a tax rebate. Thanks. Now our children are saddled with the largest deficit in American history. I would’ve prefer to have forgone that few hundred dollars I got back for fiscal responsibility and a better understanding of economics and economic policy.
  • John Kerry is smart, while Bush surrounds himself with supposedly “smart” people. I’d rather a president who knows what he’s talking about rather than one who has to be coached on every single talking point. Lord help his advisors whenever he goes off the tele-prompter, as that is most usually when he says something stupid and absurd.
  • With John Kerry, I know where America will stand in the future.

With Bush, I only see America slipping further and further down a road of no return. Of unilateral hostile actions taken for no legitimate reason. Of an America that would rather hide behind fortress walls than one that recognizes the value of diplomacy (not just in words, but in actual American lives).

  • John Kerry has the idealism, determination and experience to get the job done and to get it done right. His track records is of a strong person who knows what his values are and he stands up for those values. With Bush, I don’t know who the guy is. Sure, he’s personable, but I’m voting for a president, not a friend. He seemed to be doing the right thing after Sept. 11, by going after the terrorists in Afghanistan. But then he began to lose his way. He was against the creation of a Homeland security department! He was against the creation of the 9/11 independent commission! He invaded Iraq because of invisible “weapons of mass desctruction,” ones that have yet to be found! Bush lost me after the first year.

The beauty of American politics is that we always get another chance in 4 years to reverse the course. Now is the time to reverse the course. Please vote on Tuesday. And if any of this has made any sense to you, vote Kerry.
