I don’t know if I should go or stay.

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

I was married very young and have three children, one who is only 7 weeks old. I remember getting married because I had a baby with him already and felt obliged. I started getting depressed with my situation when we had our son because he didn't work and smoked a lot of marijuana. I tried to leave but always felt guilty and stayed. It's been 10 years since then and things have got a lot better, he only smokes on weekends and is studying although he still has managed not to work most of our marriage. He is involved with the kids sports and is a good dad but I feel like the love is not really there. ...

My wife had an emotional affair.

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

I recently discovered my wife was having an affair with a co-worker. She swears they did not have sex, but the day I discovered this, she was with him the entire afternoon and they had planned on meeting at a local hotel. It has been 3-months since I confronted her and she swears there has been no contact with him since that time. We have been attending marital counseling, but everytime she leaves the house, I am worried she could be secretly meeting with him again. When I initially confronted her, she lied numerous times, telling me he was just a friend, then later admitted he loved her, she loved him, they had even kissed right in front of our home ...

We need help and can’t afford it!

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

My girlfriend was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder by a doctor who should have retired about a hundred years ago. I myself have bipolar and I really don't think she has it, but I don't know. I know you can't diagnose a person without meeting them, but she's just really impulsive and quick to anger and I can't even talk to her anymore. It's ruining our relationship and breaking my heart. I had to move back to my parents house because I couldn't take her behaviors anymore. I have stood behind her through EVERYTHING, but she's just getting worse. She's verbally and physically abusive, she tried to strangle me and beat my head against a wall. She says she knows what she's doing, and ...

My brother’s personality has completely changed.

Monday, March 26th, 2007

Good Day. My brother's personality has completely changed over the past couple of days. He has never been an extrovert at all but now it seems that he has completely closed up. We, as brothers, haven't had the greatest of childhoods but I've never blamed our circumstances on our lack of neccesities in our younger days. He recently woke me up at 1.30am. He was shivering, crying and ranting about how we need to repent for our sins (spiritually) as he feels that we are somehow cursed with bad fortune as a result of our sinful lives. My brother has struggled to hold down a job and cannot seem to focus on any one thing for longer than a couple of months. ...

My life has been hell for too long.

Monday, March 26th, 2007

My life for the past 3 years has been hell. I was married. My father was killed in a car accident. My husband was an alcoholic so I got a divorce. I met and married someone else. Now this marriage isn't looking so good. I work 3 jobs and in the past 2 years my husband has had 2 jobs and both have only lasted a month or less. We've been married for almost a year, but haven't even been together for 4 months during this time. He was supposed to be deployed to Iraq but got hurt before he left and was hung up at medical military bases and such. He's now due to go ...

Treatment for violent night terrors

Monday, March 26th, 2007

Q. I fall asleep at night and wake up bruised and stiff because I punch and kick and bite in my sleep. I have no recollection except occationally waking up feeling unable to breathe, or wimpering. Sometimes I wake up crying. I never remember my dreams, although I am on Amitryptaline this has occured since long before that. Could this be connected with my past abuse? I am now in a secure relationship, with a son, and life is fine, I feel comfortable with my past, its not nice, but it happened, and now its over. I am depressed, and I only found this stuff out when I started sleeping with my boyfriend because he told me. Before this I only thought I was clumsy ...

How do I get the help I need?

Monday, March 26th, 2007

Q. I have been in and out of suicidal thoughts and actions for a few years now. I have tried therapy but feel the Doctor's I've dealt with give up on me too easy. I try my hardest to move on , I don't like being in this state. I find myself now in that place again and in a familiar rut I keep falling into. I am sick and tired of being in this state but doctor's just give up on me, maybe they're more patient with women. I have noticed in group therapy they get extra treatment. I cut back on my medication from 3 to 2 pills because I am gaining too much weight and losing my hair. It's called Epival. There ...

Why does my son refuse to talk?

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

My son is 16, nearly 17. He has developed a habit over the last 3 years of not talking. He talks when it is something he is interested in but only in very difficult to hear sentences. When he doesn't know the answer he will just withdraw and not answer, not saying anything-not even respond or acknowledge he has heard the question. He will not even make eye contact. When it comes to simple responses to questions like ordering in a restaurant or being waited on in a store he will not say anything no matter how long we wait. He does it at home and at school. When he becomes angry he completely withdraws and will not speak at all will hide behind the ...

What do I do if I don’t agree with a diagnosis?

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

In August of this year they took my Fiance off of antidepressants after an incident at work that upset him. They diagnosed his bipolar disorder. His phychitrist since August has had him on Remron, Respirdal, Seraquel. They now have him taking Effexor XR 187.5 mg and Abilify 25mg and klonopin 2mg. His condition has worsened 100 times fold, he sleeps almost 20 hours a day, cries a lot, says he wants to die, says he feels worthless, says his life is over. His doctor has pushed him off onto another facility that is running his insurance which may take a while. I do not believe he is bipolar at all, after knowing him two years and having the ...

Is it proper for a woman to visit male friends?

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

Should a woman be alone in a house with 2 men she really don't know too well? Is it proper for a woman who is in a relationship to go over and visit a house that 2 men are staying in, and it is only the three of them there. I have been with this person for 12 years and I don't think its right. She said there is nothing wrong with it. A: Back in my grandmother's time (bear in mind that I'm 60), people had clear rules for what is proper. White shoes should not be worn after Labor Day. A woman should not be seen with men she isn't married to. Times have changed. Mutual trust and consideration are the ...
